Square Market

Square Market is a community market offering local produce, fresh baked goods and various canned items. The market is open on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m from the first Wednesday in June through the last Wednesday in October. A section of the market is dedicated to arts and crafts.  Interested in volunteering or participating in the Farmer’s Market? Contact the Batesville Main Office at 563.3126 or come by the registration pavilion on Wednesday afternoons.

SpringFest

SpringFest is Batesville’s annual music festival that is held the weekend after Mother’s Day in May of each year.  The festival is on Friday from to 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. There is no admission charge.  The festival is funded by the City of Batesville and corporate sponsorships.  The two day festival includes a carnival, music and food.  The City of Batesville Police Department patrols the area during the festival.  The music is paid national regional and local acts.  A secured hospitality tent is set up behind stage to serve the musicians food and beverage.  Food Vendors are invited to sell concessions to the general public for a flat fee.  Corporate sponsors are invited to set up booths to promote their business.  PBJ Happee Day Shows brings the carnival each year and operates it entirely.  Other events include a Kids Area at Memorial Park.  Junior Auxiliary of Batesville members provide complimentary activities for the kids. Other activities include face painting and the spider jump trampoline.

Showoff on the Square

An open car show is held in downtown Batesville the first Saturday in October from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  The Mississippi Delta Street Rods handle the vehicle registration.  Our organization assists by soliciting food vendors and selling event t-shirts that day.  The City of Batesville and corporate sponsors provide the funds to purchase trophies and to advertise the event.

Scare on the Square

Traditionally held on the last Saturday in October, Scare on the Square includes a costumed walk, costume contest, and Trick or Trunk.  This event provides a safe way to celebrate the season, with local businesses handing out healthy snacks and/or non-food items. All ages can participate in Main Street’s costumed walk.  Flaunt your haunt all the way to the finish line at Batesville Memorial Park.  Afterwards, winners of the costume contest will be announced and awarded prizes.   All age groups are invited to enter the Halloween costume contest.  Immediately following the announcement of the costume contest winners, area businesses, churches, and civic organizations are invited to decorate their trunks and provide healthy & fun treats for children.

 

Holiday Open House

The Holiday Open House is held the Sunday before Thanksgiving each year from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  The Open House features live entertainment, carriage rides, children’s’ activities and shopping opportunities.   There is no charge for the public.   Carriage ride tickets are sold and the money is used for Batesville Main Street Projects.  Aside from downtown merchants, local/regional artists set up in a banquet hall downtown to sell/display their wares.  They are charged a minimal booth space rental fee.
